Dr. Steele Moegle is an Associate Professor of Music at Louisiana Tech University. She serves as the head of three areas: piano studies, collaboration/accompanying, and music appreciation studies. Her teaching responsibilities include applied piano, piano classes, music history, and music appreciation.
In addition to teaching, she is well known throughout the region as a soloist and collaborator. A doctoral graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, Moegle has studied performing, coaching, and collaborative techniques with internationally known pianists and coaches, such as Robeert Spillman, Larry Graham, Mutsumi Moteki, and Constance Carroll. Recent performance venues include the University of Texas at San Antonio, Middle Tennessee State University, Centenary College, Mississippi College, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and the University of Alabama.
Moegle is frequently in demand as an adjudicator, having judged at local, state, and regional competitions. Her students continually seek outside performance and competitive opportunities. Her excellent teaching has led to invitations to give master classes for area music teachers associations and universities.
Along with performing, Moegle enjoys researching women in music and American popular music. Her current focus includes the female composers Cecile Chaminade, Amy Beach, and Lili Boulanger. In popular music she is currently studying the king of pop: Michael Jackson. She has presented papers at Tech’s Liberal Arts Symposium, the Southern Chapter Conference of the College of Music Society, and at an international musicological conference in Struga, Macedonia.
