Curriculum vitae

Biography

Understanding how family dynamics, specifically parenting, influences how children grow and develop is what first drew Dr. Rutledge to the field of Human Development and Family Science. The broad focus of her research program is children’s preventative health and social development. Currently, her research program focuses on using the early childhood education setting as a vehicle for change in both preschoolers and their families. Through her funded research projects, undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to put education into practice and gain skills for their professional lives. Being a professor allows Dr. Rutledge to directly serve children and families and train future professionals who will do that with their own careers both in the classroom and through experiences at the ENRICH Center. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling the world.
